Four students from Sydney’s Moriah College were among a select group  presented with awards today for topping subjects in the HSC.

Madeleine Gottlieb, Elise Kempler, Jesse Ende and Katherine Tobias

Katherine Tobias took out the honours for Classical Hebrew Continuers and Extension, Madeleine Gottlieb for English Extension 2, Elise Kempler for Modern Hebrew Continuers and Jesse Ende for Software Design and Development.

Ende told J-Wire that a career in medicine is his goal but admits that his passion for technology will come into play as the medical and hi tech worlds converge.

Elise is in Year 11 and has her HSC year. She said: I have my HSC year coming up but I now have one subject behind me. I have no idea of what I want to do in the future.”

Katherine Tobias said: “In a week I am going to Bangelore in India to join an NGO called the 40K Foundation to do some volunteer work for a month with the children of indentured workers. When I get back I want to do Arts/Law at either the University of New South Wales or the University of Sydney…and continue my Hebrew studies within the Arts degree.”

It was a special family moment for Kempler and TObias. The girls are cousins.

The awards were held at Sydney’s Technology Park and were presented by NSW Minister for Education Verity Faith.
