In mid 2018, a passionate group of individuals within the Sydney community commenced discussions around the lack of engagement in the young adult space and the concurrent growing threat to Jewish continuity via intermarriage.
Within a year, the group merged with JJunction realising a natural synergy between their over-riding ambitions.
JJunction’s original brand JConnect has successfully targeted 25-40 year olds for the past 16 years in the areas of one-on-one match making, speed dating and marriage education, resulting in 65 weddings and 88 babies to date.
A new and invigorated board was sworn in by December 2020 and funding secured through the incredible generosity of concerned community members. We are now currently actively seeking an Executive General Manager to lead the organisation and spearhead its new direction into the future.
Over the last few months strategies have also been put into place to launch 2 exciting new brands that will soon offer 19-25, and 25-35 year olds a shared-experience model. All 3 brands have recently appointed ‘dynamic young committees’, made up ENTIRELY of a diverse group of young Jewish adults, and each committee has representation in their group at board level. ‘A product for young adults, by young adults’.
Says board Chairman Alex Abulafia, ‘we’ve given them a seat and a voice at the table and we are excited to see where this takes us’.
Also core to our model is the intention to collaborate with all community organisations. We see ourselves as a conduit for information and know that if we all start to work together, our young adults will benefit from the knowledge of what’s on and who’s offering it within their interest spectrum.
Relevant engagement is the key and we intend to focus on inclusion which involves breaking up silos and providing shared experiences for like minded people.
