More than 500 acceptances have been received for tonight’s tribute to Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks who passed away last weekend at the age of 72.

The event is being hosted jointly by The Executive Council of Australian Jewry and the Zionist Federation of Australia.

Co-CEO of the ECAJ Peter Wertheim told J-Wire: “We have had to upgrade to a webinar to accommodate up to 1000 people.  Not bad on 48 hours’ notice, and a tribute in itself to how widely revered Rabbi Sacks was.

The event will be recorded and uploaded to YouTube.  Also, I propose to ask participants to post their own tributes to Rabbi Sacks on the Chat page, where we can collect them all at the end of the session.

My colleague, who is CEO of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, has agreed that if I send her the collection of tributes she will pass them on to Rabbi Sacks’ family.”
