The Israeli left-wing NGO Adalah announced this week that it is “prepared to submit legal material” to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to aid its war crimes probe against Israel.

“Adalah believes that… the ICC prosecutor has made the right decision given the facts,” the organization stated in response to the ICC’s decision to investigate Israel for alleged war crimes.

ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda said on Friday that after the conclusion of a preliminary examination, she has decided to launch an investigation against Israel for alleged war crimes.

“We welcome her position, [and Adalah is] prepared to submit its legal materials and opinions on these matters,” Adalah stated.

Adalah, which has received nearly $700,000 from the US-based New Israel Fund (NIF) in recent years, is an outspoken critic of Israel, which it has labelled an “apartheid state.”

The organization routinely accuses Israel of war crimes and petitions Israel’s Supreme Court against the IDF and on behalf of convicted terrorists.

Matan Peleg, CEO of the Zionist organization Im Tirtzu, slammed the NIF over its funding of the anti-Israel activity undertaken by Adalah.

“As if it isn’t enough that the NIF gives tens of millions of dollars to anti-Israel propaganda organizations that slander IDF soldiers and defend convicted terrorists in court, now their money is being funnelled towards prosecuting Israel in the ICC,” he said.

“The time has come for the NIF’s donors who have Israel’s best interests at heart to wake up and realize that their money is being weaponized to attack Israel,” he added.

The ICC probe has been criticized by Israel as well as several countries around the world.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the ICC’s decision “a travesty of justice and an overstepping” of the court’s jurisdiction. Israel “will not be silent. We will not bow our heads before this outrage. We will continue to speak out against this travesty of justice,” he vowed.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated that the US “firmly opposes this unjustified inquiry that unfairly targets Israel. The path to lasting peace is through direct negotiations.”

Australia’s Foreign Ministry stated  that it is “concerned by the ICC prosecutor’s proposal.”

The German Foreign Ministry stated on Tuesday that the admissibility of the ICC probe against Israel is “doubtful,” and the court should refrain from being politicized.
