The St Kilda Shule is to get $300,000 from the government should Labor win Saturday’s election.

Rabbi Yaakov Glasman, Josh Burns MP, Nkina Taylor MP and Geral Bullen

Incumbent Labor MP for Manamara Josh Burns said: “St Kilda Shule is a central part of the heartbeat of our proud Jewish community.

Whilst it is a beautiful building, it is over 100 years old and much of its amenities aren’t up to modern standards.

That’s why I was so pleased to call Rabbi Glasman with the exciting news that a Federal Labor Government will invest in the Shule’s future with a $300,000 commitment to refurbish and repair their facilities.”

He said that the Australian Labor Party has long championed its multicultural policy as a cornerstone for social cohesion in Australia and its longstanding relationship with the vibrant Australian Jewish community.

Gerry Bullon, President, St Kilda Hebrew Congregation added “As an active Shule which prides itself on its work in building bridges with other faith communities and in strengthening our relationship with the diverse and multicultural communities in whose midst we live, it is important that we provide our many visitors with a welcoming and comfortable environment during their visits.

I thank Josh Burns for his advocacy.”
