Purim is approaching, a time to read the Megillah, dressup in costumes, eat hamantaschen and enjoy the chag with family and friends.

jccvSadly, Purim has recently and increasingly been associated with alcohol abuse, especially within the underage sector of our community.

The Jewish Community Council of Victoria is calling upon parents of teenagers to take an active role in their children’s behaviour. If you do not want your child to attend a Purim party because you consider there may be alcohol present you can just say “no”.

The JCCV also calls upon all parents, schools, youth groups and Synagogues to be responsible and appropriate role models in relation to alcohol.
