Israel’s Foreign Ministry had harsh words for Tor Wennesland, the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, and accused him of ignoring Hamas and Islamic Jihad rocket attacks.

Wennesland called to “stop the fire immediately. We’re escalating towards a full-scale war.”

“Leaders on all sides have to take the responsibility of de-escalation. The cost of war in Gaza is devastating and is being paid by ordinary people. UN is working with all sides to restore calm. Stop the violence now,” he demanded.

Responding to the blatantly biased statement by an ostensibly neutral UN official, Israel’s Foreign Ministry stated that “you speak of ‘the cost of war in Gaza’ while ignoring 1,000 rockets fired by terror groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad at Israeli towns in the past 36 hours.”

On the other hand, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz stated Wednesday that he “condemns the rocket attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip in the strongest possible terms. Israel has the right to defend itself against them. I hope that there will be de-escalation and that these attacks will be stopped with immediate effect.”

The rockets fired by terror groups from Gaza to Israeli cities in towns in the south and Tel Aviv area have killed six people.
