The celebration of 18-year-old Harry Sheezel’s drafting by North Melbourne continued at the family home.

Ronnie Lewis headed the Maccabi AFL club AJAX with whom Harry spent his formative years.

Ronnie told J-Wire: “He’s a great young man.

He is disciplined, focused, hard-working and mature beyond his years.

It’s been a great journey and lots of sacrifices to get to this point.

Now the hard work begins and I have no doubt that he will be successful in the elite AFL competition.”

Daniel Aghion, president of The Jewish Community Council of Victoria, said: “The Victorian Jewish community wishes Harry Sheezel every success as he embarks on his AFL journey with the Kangaroos. We should be proud to live in a state where people from all backgrounds, including our vibrant Jewish community, are supported to pursue their dreams. All the best to Harry for a long and fulfilling AFL career.”

Dean Mohr, Co-President of Maccabi Victoria, added: “The entire Maccabi Community are thrilled and incredibly proud of Harry Sheezel’s achievement in being drafted to the North Melbourne Football Club and wish him every success in his sporting career. He has and continues to be a role model to our younger athletes and we feel honoured to be part of the community of Jewish supporters that feels so connected and inspired by Harry’s journey to date. We look forward to continuing this support as the next phase of his football story unfolds.”
