NSW Rural Fire Service volunteer Noel Kessel has spent five days in the NSW town of Deniliquin to assist with the devastating ongoing flood emergency.

He told J-Wire: “My crew of five from Sydney’s Northern Beaches were choppered in daily to the small town of Moulamein to assist in sandbagging and building levees along the Edward and Billabong Rivers and assist in evacuations.

Our presence was well received by the desperate locals, who were extremely thankful for our efforts to save the town’s water treatment plant from the rapidly rising rivers. Were the water treatment plant impacted, the entire town would be forced to evacuate.
