Chabad for Rural and Regional Australia have reported that Jewish families in Toowoomba have been affected by the floods…but help is on its way.

Rabbi Moshe Loebenstein

Rabbi Moshe Loebenstein told J-Wire from RARA’s Melbourne headquarters: “Over the years, our emissaries have established contact with the 15-20 families living in the area. To the best of our knowledge all of the families have escaped injury but many of their home have experienced flooding. We are sending up supplies such as dry clothing and towels. One woman told she had always wanted a swimming pool…and now she has one…but it’s inside her home.”

Rabbi Loebenstein added that RARA will not be involved in rescue work. He said: “We will leave that to the State Emergency  Services.”

Sydney’s Our Big Kitchen has swung into action to assist Rabbi Loebenstein’s efforts. Rabbi Dovid Slavin told J-Wire: “As soon as the roads open, Our Big Kitchen will send consignments of sweets, cakes, biscuits and frozen meals.”
