Following the far right engineered confrontation in St Kilda last weekend,  Labor MP Michael Danby said “ It is unfortunate, but ASIO, the AFP and Victoria Police will now need to devote intel resources to Neo-Nazi groups like the Antipodean Resistance League “

Mr Danby noted the research of Ben McCombe on Twitter:

“Blair Cottrel has called for pictures of Hitler to be hung in all schoolrooms and for kids to be given copies of Mein Kampf.

This rally was held on the centenary of German Workers Party founding. The DAP was the forerunner of the NSDAP. Attendees were seen wearing SS insignia”

Mr Danby said “one of the Neo-Nazi demonstrators gesticulated with a German steel helmet emblazoned with the symbol of the SS”

Mr Danby concluded he did not think it was a coincidence that it now appears many interstate members of the Neo-Nazi group had travelled to Melbourne for the event in St Kilda and the daubing of the Emmy Monash Home in Caulfield.

Dr Kerryn Phelps is the independent member for the Wentworth electorate in Sydney, home to the majority of the city’s Jewish population.

She told J-Wire: “I think it is important that we call out this rally for what it was – a neo-Nazi demonstration complete with Nazi salutes and symbolism.

We know there’s a rise of Nazism in some countries, particularly in Europe, and we need to do all we can to stop this happening in Australia with a zero-tolerance approach.

Australia’s political leaders cannot take an each-way bet on this and must be more proactive in speaking out against a rise in antisemitic and neo-Nazi behaviour.

It is a disgrace that Senator Fraser Anning attended a rally with Neo-Nazis, made even worse by the fact he intends to bill taxpayers for flights to and from Queensland.

I do not believe this is an appropriate use of taxpayer funding.”

It’s not Senator Fraser Annings fault Neo-Nazi’s were present.
As Mr. Danby said, “one of the Neo-Nazi demonstrators… not the far right. Both Far Left and Far Right are nuts

  2. Adrian Jackson says:

The NS in NSDAP stands for National Socialist.

  3. Henry Herzog says:

What’s more upsetting is the Jewish hard-right using this as a opportunity to attack the left’s anti-Israel rubbish, thus diminishing the horrors of the Holocaust and the memory of Hitler’s victims. This has nothing to do with politics and every thing to do with trashing the memory of the murder of our 6 million. Shame on the hard-right Jews for their part in eroding the enormity of Hitler’s crimes.

  4. Dr. Rodney Gouttman says:

Anyone with the knowledge of Australian Jewish history in the 1930s would know that the anti-Semitism was endemic on the ideological Right and Left. In the Australia of today, of course the ultra-Right anti-Semitism must be decried. However, this doesn’t mean one should keep one’s eyes on the anti-Jewish cum anti-Zion calumny from the left pervading many of the country’s national cultural elites. Then there are the smears emanating from militant Islam that no-one seeks to want to speak about. Sure, the St. Kilda Beach episode is the instant of the moment, but when it comes to Judeophobia generally, it is a far bigger picture.
