Community organisations partner to create A Kinder World Now.
In Sydney, Jewish House, The Friendship Circle, Maccabi All Abilities, The Choice Foundation, One&All, JewishCare, and The Central Synagogue have united to organise a disability advocacy and awareness event next week.
Young people with disabilities are changing the world with a campaign being launched in Australia called #AKinderWorldNow. The upcoming event will be a panel discussion evening hosted by passionate community members with lived experience of disability. It will be open to the general public to attend and aims to bring awareness of kindness, compassion, equality and accessibility to children with all abilities.
The event at The Central Synagogue is open to the members of the general public who can be involved in this important movement. Audience members will hear from keynote speaker Rabbi Ari Shishler, the founder of the international not-for-profit organization, “A Kinder World Now”.
Johannesburg-based, Rabbi Shisler, launched his charity after his daughter Shaina was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called BPAN. While Shaina hardly talks, she’s on a mission to spread kindness to build a kinder world, and the rabbi says that she “helps to keep me smiling in all circumstances”.
Panel members Adam Kellerman and Chaya Gopin will also bring their own experiences of disability to the discussion.
After overcoming cancer as a teenager, Adam Kellerman went on to become an Australian Paralympian in wheelchair tennis. He believes that every challenge provides an opportunity. Adam’s mission in life is to share inspiration, wisdom and hope, to empower individuals and businesses to take action towards creating a better world.
Chaya Gopin is a mother of three beautiful children, including her 5-year-old boy who is the 11th in the world to be diagnosed with a rare syndrome. Chaya is passionate about inclusion in the community and is proud to say her
“child is joining the #akinderworldnow movement as an ambassador.”
#A Kinder World Now will be hosted on Thursday the 30th of June from 7:30 – 9:00 pm at The Central Synagogue in Bondi Junction. To join this no-cost event, RSVP via https://events.humanitix.com/akinderworldnow.
