Chanukah in Caulfield Park has been a tradition for the Melbourne Jewish Community for 26 Years. A video report from Henry Greener.
This year on the first night of Chanukah, The Tribe gathered for a fiesta of kosher food, kid’s rides, simcha music, dancing, speeches and fireworks, were not deterred by the inclement weather. Greetings of “Chag Sameach” and “Happy Chanukah”, with words of wisdom and gratitude to Rabbi Joseph Gutnick, Chabad of Caulfield Chief Rabbi were captured by Henry Greener as he schmoozed his way around Caulfield Park.
More Chanukah in the Park as the crowd swells, they dance to the swinging simcha music of the Matana Band lead by Tunni Fogal, then settle down to listen to speeches from Rabbi Joseph Gutnick and Member for Caulfield David Southwick MP
First Night of Chanukah in the Park is celebrated with a huge crowd at Caulfield Park having fun, eating, dancing and listening to brief speeches from Mayor of Glen Eira Cr Jamie Hyams, ALP Candidate for McNamara Josh Burns and Liberal Candidate for McNamara Kate Ashmor, followed by the lighting of The Chanukah Menorah, a huge fireworks display and more dancing to the young, high-energy Matana Band, as the night comes to a euphoric end.
