Celebrating centenary at UIA 2020 Campaign events

UIA will host an outstanding line up of speakers for its 2020 Campaign when it celebrates the incredible milestone of Keren Hayesod-UIA’s 100 years of supporting the People of Israel.

President Reuven Rivlin

Guest of Honour at UIA’s 2020 General Division Centenary Gala events in Sydney and Melbourne will be the President of the State of Israel, His Excellency, President Reuven Rivlin.

Stuart Robert

Rivlin has served as the President of the State of Israel since 2014. As President, Rivlin declared his commitment to safeguard the State of Israel as a Jewish and Democratic State and to aspire to establish a partnership between the different ideological groups in Israeli society and ensure full equality amongst all its citizens. Rivlin, a staunch supporter of Keren Hayesod-UIA has been quoted as saying “Without Keren Hayesod, there would have been no State of Israel, plain and simple!”

Tzipi Livni – Israeli politician, diplomat and lawyer will be the headline speaker at UIA WA’s Centenary Launch in Perth. Widely considered the most powerful woman in Israel since Golda Meir, Livni has served in eight different cabinet positions throughout her career, setting the record for most government roles held by an Israeli woman. A former member of the Knesset and leader in the centre-left political camp, she is a former Foreign Minister of Israel, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Justice and Leader of the Opposition.

Yola Reitman

Renowned Israeli singer-songwriter and musician, Idan Raichel will entertain supporters at the Gala events in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Raichel is considered to be one of the most prominent and successful musical artists In Israel, and among the most well-known Israeli artists abroad.

Women’s Division events in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth will feature guest speakers Yola Reitman – Former Mossad Agent and Dr Talia Cohen Solal – CEO and Co-Founder of Genetika+.

Idan Raichel

Yola tells the thrilling, true story of her life as an undercover agent in an enemy land, risking everything for her country and people. As an El Al flight attendant, Yola was recruited as a Mossad agent, sent to Sudan to smuggle thousands of persecuted Ethiopian Jews to Israel, as portrayed in the Netflix film ‘Red Sea Diving Resort’.

Genetika+ is developing a personalised medical testing tool to better treat depression by helping physicians find the best drug therapy for their patients using genetic data. Talia made her first scientific discoveries in mental health at age 18, and has since successfully developed two scientific patents as well as winning major science awards.

Young Leadership and YoungUIA events in Sydney and Melbourne will be headlined by guest speaker Gonen Ben Yitzhak – Shin Bet recruiter of ‘The Green Prince’. Gonen was the Shin Bet (Israeli Secret Service) agent in charge of recruiting and handling ‘The Green Prince’, son of Hamas leader Sheik Hassan Yousef.

Gonen managed to penetrate the Hamas leadership and turn the son of its founder into an agent for Israel for ten years. The acclaimed documentary film, ‘The Green Prince’, portrayed their incredible story, receiving the Audience Award for best documentary at the Sundance Film Festival.

UIA QLD will also host Yola Reitman as a guest speaker at its 2020 Gala Dinner in Brisbane. She will be joined by The Hon Stuart Robert MP – Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme and Minister for Government Services. Robert previously served as Assistant Minister for Defence, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Minister for Human Services and the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Centenary of ANZAC. He is very involved with the Israel Allies Caucus and a regular visitor to Israel, and one of Federal Parliament’s staunchest and most outspoken supporters of the State of Israel and Australian Jewish Community.

UIA’s 2020 Campaign will once again focus on providing support for the People of Israel.
