Barmitzvah boy helps rebirth Carmel Forest
Isaac Crawford celebrated his Barmitzvah in Sydney…and donated all his financial gifts to the JNF.
While on holiday with his parents Andrew and Carole, the Bellevue Hill schoolboy visited the Carmel Forest before it was devastated by last year’s fires.
A spokesperson for the JNF said: “Isaac’s holiday in Israel with his family made a deep impact on his life. His visit to Yad Vashem was moving and had an effect on him and the beauty of the Carmel Forests was also something that he enjoyed seeing. He was also educated about the role of the KKL-JNF in making Israel green and environmental.
When Isaac celebrated his Bar Mitzvah he was looking for a good cause to donate the monetary gifts that he received and he wanted to contribute something to Israel. He recalled his visit to the green Carmel Forest and when became aware of the magnitude of damage caused by the fire, he decided to take part in the huge effort of the rehabilitation of the Carmel Forest.
The JNF spokesperson added: “Isaac is to be admired for his mature thinking and for wanting to give so generously to the JNF and to the State of Israel. We hope that his story will inspire other Bar and Batmitzvah children to do the same thing.”
