Australian delegation visits Ben-Gurion University

Former Australian Prime Minister John Howard was impressed by Ben-Gurion University of the Negev during a visit on Thursday.

The delegation

Howard led a delegation from Australia to Beer-Sheva on the 102nd Anniversary of the Battle of Beer-Sheva in World War I. He spoke at the annual ANZAC memorial ceremony at the Beer-Sheva War Cemetery in the morning before his visit to BGU.

“We were very impressed,” he said after visiting BGU’s Deutsche Telekom Innovations Labs, “It’s a great asset to Israel in cyber matters.”
Earlier, Howard and his fellow delegates met with BGU’s Vice President for Industrial and Regional Development Prof. Dan Blumberg to hear about the exciting future BGU and its partners are forging for Beer-Sheva and the Negev.
The delegation included current and former politicians BrendancNelson, Alexander Downer, Wayne  Swan and Stephen  Conroy . They were accompanied by Israeli Ambassador to Australia Mark Sofer.
