Antisemitism and bullying in public schools – the alternative

If antisemitism and/or bullying in your child’s public school becomes problematic, the Australian Council of Jewish Schools has a solution.

In recent weeks, there has been a five‐fold increase in antisemitism in the Australian community, and unfortunately, public schools are not immune.

In mid‐October, the NSW Teachers Federation (the NSW Branch of the AEU) published an Executive Statement on the Middle East conflict that contained significant factual errors and was condemnatory of Israel. The statement was further updated in early November with the subheading ‐ “How many more children?”. This week, a Victorian branch of the Australian Education Union (AEU) released a pamphlet encouraging its members to campaign, amongst school children in favour of Palestine, in reference to the Gaza situation, but without reference to the Hamas attack on October 7th. The terms of the leaflets make clear that the attitude of the AEU is not a temporary aberration; it will last for many years.

In light of the attitude of the public teachers’ union, we can expect the level of anti-Semitic bullying in public schools to increase further and, consequently, an increase in the feeling of insecurity amongst Jewish students in public schools.

The ACJS represents all Jewish schools in Australia and will warmly welcome students who would like to join our school community. They will do all they can to ensure the fees are affordable, subject to the normal rules relating to enrolment.

If you or your family are worried or feeling insecure, please speak to one of our Jewish schools directly. Your children will receive an exceptional education in a warm and nurturing environment where they can feel safe and proud of their Jewish identity.

What Is the point of this alternative. Jewish children are being bullied and the alternative to move them put if school. What should occur is that complaints should be made to the principal of the school , to the education department to your local member, state and federal. Not hide away bring scared to be a jew.
