An AFL delegation has been briefed on antisemitism, Holocaust history and Jewish community concerns.

Back: Dermott Brereton, Jeremy Jones

Former star footballer and media commentator Dermott Brereton, AFL General Counsel Andrew Dillon and St Kilda F.C. General Manager, Simon Lethlean, have paid a visit to the Jewish Holocaust Centre in Melbourne, where they were taken through the Holocaust museum by Museum Director Jayne Josem and Education Director Lisa Phillips.

They then received a briefing by Jeremy Jones, Director of International and of Community Affairs of the Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council, on a variety of topics including Holocaust Denial in Australia, the danger of antisemitic conspiracy theories and the way Australian governments dealt with Nazi War Criminals who immigrated to Australia in the post-war period.
A productive and constructive discussion followed, focussed on the importance of not allowing antisemitism and other forms of racism to go unchallenged and on the role the media and sporting institutions can and must play in promoting a tolerant and caring society. “
