Abbas calls Rivlin to wish him a Happy New Year

Palestinian Authority (PA) head Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday evening called Israeli President Reuven Rivlin to congratulate him on the Jewish New Year.

Rosh Hashana was celebrated on Monday and Tuesday.
According to the PA’s official WAFA news agency, the two “exchanged views on the latest developments in the Palestinian-Israeli relationship,” and “expressed their hope to achieve peace between Palestinians and Israelis as soon as possible.”
Rivlin’s office did not comment on the conversation.
Israeli leaders have previously called Abbas to congratulate him on the occasion of Muslim holidays.
