Practising for the game

Peres Centre for Peace and Innovation young participants – Jews, Muslims, and Christians – will take part in a football game in Jaffa on Tuesday in honor of Prince William’s visit to Israel.

In preparation for the visit, the Peres Centre’s young participants created a joint video clip welcoming Prince William in Arabic, Hebrew, and English, and singing “All You Need is Love”.

Dozens of Peres Centre participants, Jews and Arabs, who are taking part in the Peres Centre’s “Sport in the Service of Peace” programs, will play in a short game to honor Prince William’s visit. The match will take place in Jaffa on Tuesday, June 26, at 18:00, during which they will also play with participants from The Equalizer.

The dozens of youths who train in mixed groups (Jews and Arabs from around the country) as part of the “Sport in the Service of Peace” program were selected from over 1,000 eager young Peres Center participants.

In preparation for the visit, Peres Centre participants – Jews and Arabs – created a video clip welcoming Prince William in Arabic, Hebrew, and English, and singing “All You Need is Love”. Sport can serve as a bridge between peoples and religions. The video was distributed today on social networks.

Chemi Peres, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Peres Center, said:  “The children of the Peres Centre are excited to show the world on Tuesday that sport is a bridge between peoples and cultures. The Peres Centre believes that through sport, we can break barriers and create trust and cooperation between nations. We are very proud to participate in the game and proudly represent unity through sport.”

The Peres Centre’s Sport in the Service of Peace programs have already reached over 20,000 young football players from around the country and the region, and have won eight Israeli and international awards for educational work. This week, a mixed Jewish and Arab team from the Peres Centre will leave for the World Cup’s eighth FIFA Foundation Festival.
