A delegation of United Hatzalah medics is travelling to Sydney to assist local authorities in the aftermath of today’s terror attack that targeted a family-friendly Chanukah gathering and the local Jewish community at Bondi Beach.

The delegation, led by senior members of the organisation’s Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit, will provide support and assistance to both the Jewish community and the wider public affected by the devastating incident. It will include a multidisciplinary team with extensive experience in responding to terror attacks and large-scale disasters.

United Hatzalah, headed by President and Founder Eli Beer and CEO Prof. Ehud Davidson stand united with the Australian Jewish community and the families of those killed or injured in today’s attack.

A spokesman said: “We have extensive experience treating victims of terror attacks both here in Israel as well as abroad, as in the case of the Tree of Life synagogue massacre in Pittsburgh in October 2018, where United Hatzalah volunteers offered support to a shattered community during one of its darkest moments.

“Our mission has always been to save lives in Israel, but when called upon to help others around the world our volunteers have always responded,” said President and Founder of United Hatzalah Eli Beer. “When tragedy strikes, borders do not separate us. We are preparing to send our experts to Sydney to help the Jewish community and to support the local authorities in the aftermath of this terror attack.”

Linor Attias, Head of the United Hatzalah Delegation to Australia, said: “We are deeply shaken by the murderous attack that struck the Jewish community in Australia. As a nation with extensive experience confronting terror and trauma, and out of profound solidarity with the many supporters of our organisation within the local Jewish community, we view it as our highest duty to dispatch a professional delegation within the coming hours.”
