Suspicious package prompts police operation at Emanuel School
A police operation was launched at Emanuel School in Randwick on Tuesday afternoon after a suspicious package was found on campus.
Emergency services were called to the school shortly before 2:40pm on Tuesday, 16 December. According to news.com.au, NSW Police and Fire and Rescue NSW established a safety cordon around the area while the item was assessed.

Police confirmed the school was not occupied at the time and that no students or staff were present. Specialist police resources, including a helicopter, were deployed as part of the response.
Fire and Rescue NSW later determined the package contained an inert substance and posed no danger to the public. NSW Police said there was no ongoing threat, and surrounding streets were reopened once the assessment was completed .
Investigations into how the package came to be at the school are continuing. No further details about its origin have been released. The operation comes among heightened awareness of security only days after the shooting at Bondi Beach.
