New CEO at Melbourne Holocaust Museum
The Melbourne Holocaust Museum has announced the appointment of its new CEO, Dr Breann Fallon.

Dr Fallon is currently the Head of Experience and Learning at MHM and has been acting Co-CEO for the past few months.
The MHM announcement says that Fallon, “Has made a significant impact on the MHM since commencing in July 2023.”
MHM Co-President Mike Debinski OAM said, “After a competitive process, the MHM Board is thrilled announce the appointment of Dr Breann Fallon as MHM’s CEO. We have been inspired by her thoughtful approach and genuine connection with people. We are confident that her leadership will not only strengthen our organisation, but empower our teams and communities to thrive.”
Fallon holds a PhD in Religion and Genocide Studies from the University of Sydney and has experience in Holocaust education, human rights, and cultural leadership. She is the granddaughter of non-Jewish survivors of Nazi persecution, which the museum says is a “deeply personal history that fuels her commitment to the Museum.”
Fallon has extensive experience in the sector, most recently as the Head of Experience and Learning at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum and previously in the Education department at the Sydney Jewish Museum, including being Head of Learning.
In 2023, she played a key role in the federal Senate inquiry into banning Nazi symbols in Australia.
Regarding the appointment, Fallon said “I am honoured to step into the role of CEO at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum.”
“More than ever, our Museum holds a vital place in the community and I am humbled to continue working with our passionate team to preserve the legacy of Holocaust survivors and inspire future generations through education, remembrance, and action.”
Beyond her museum and academic work, Fallon has been active in public education through the media. She has contributed to podcasts and radio programs, and hosted the documentary ‘Trafficked to Australia’, using storytelling to raise awareness about injustice.
The MHM says that the appointment signals the next chapter in museum’s journey, building on the leadership of former CEOs Jayne Josem and Dr Steven Cooke, and “our outstanding staff and volunteers.”
“Under Bre’s leadership, MHM will continue to honour our critically important purpose of remembrance, education, collection of Holocaust testimonies and artefacts, and most importantly action against antisemitism and other forms of racism.”
It will be a big challenge and an important role, give the current highly charged in Australia with increasing antisemitism.
