The annual day of Jewish learning to be held later this year in Sydney is created, marketed and run by a group of passionate volunteers, with support from The Shalom Institute.

A participant told J-Wire: “Clive Lawton spoke about the Limmud culture showing us the impact that word choice can have. This is why words like culture, participants, presenters and learning are deliberately used instead of event, consumers, speakers and education in the Limmud values. When people attend Yom Limmud, they are not just attending another event to hear a one way conversation,  but rather they are participating in sessions, processing new ideas and forging new bonds. The entire day is created with the intention of enabling participants to have a great time and ultimately strengthen Sydney’s Jewish community.”

The 2016 will be the 18th Limmud-Oz in Sydney which hosted the first Limmud event held outside of the UK.

This year, Yom Limmud Sydney’s venue has been selected to accommodate more people than ever before with a new program planned for teens to complement the existing adults’ and children’s programs.

Yom Limmud Sydney is one of over 80 programs around the world including China and Venezuela.

A spokesperson told J-Wire: “Yom Limmud Sydney is to your soul what matza ball soup is to your body…and it won’t leave you bloated.”

Yom Limmud Sydney takes place this year on Sunday July 3rd at UNSW and will feature an amazing line up of speakers, delicious food and plenty of time to talk with your peers. If you would like any information about getting involved, please contact
