KKL-JNF distributes over 550K saplings to mark Tu B’Shevat
Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael–Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF) is holding events in forests, parks, and communities across Israel to mark Tu B’Shevat, the Jewish New Year for Trees, which falls on Monday.

The organisation is hosting tree-planting events, guided tours, botanical activities and visits to seed nurseries, inviting Israelis to enjoy outdoor activities that promote environmental awareness and a deeper appreciation for the land.
KKL-JNF has already distributed more than 550,000 saplings from its nurseries nationwide, with numbers expected to rise throughout the planting week. The organisation says 2026 is shaping up to be one of the busiest Tu B’Shevat seasons in the past decade.
“The record-breaking planting numbers and tremendous public response we’re seeing this year go far beyond [Tu B’Shevat] tradition; they are an expression of overcoming the difficult times we’ve endured and choosing life, just as [Tu B’Shevat] plantings symbolise,” said Eyal Ostrinsky, chairman of KKL-JNF.
“After two years of war, the hundreds of thousands of Israelis going out into the field and planting hundreds of thousands of saplings prove that our bond to this land cannot be severed. This is the most resounding Zionist and national response: amid the challenges, we choose to deepen our roots, grow anew, and believe in the future of the State of Israel,” he added.
