“If you claim to support human rights yet can’t bring yourself to show solidarity with those fighting for their liberty in Iran, you’ve revealed yourself,” Rowling stated.
“You don’t give a damn about people being oppressed and brutalised so long as it’s being done by the enemies of your enemies,” she added.
In response to someone who called her a “shill for Jewish supremacy,” Rowling said that “Iranian citizens braver than you could dream of being are sacrificing their lives in the fight for their own liberation, and all you can find to say is ‘it’s the Jews’ fault.’”
“You’re beyond parody,” she said.
The author, who has 13.8 million followers on X and has used her platform to speak out against Jew-hatred after Oct. 7, has been sharing her support for the protesters in Iran.
“The bravery of these people is astounding,” she wrote. “They’re light in what lately has felt like a very dark world.”
