Sydney’s Emanuel Woollahra Preschool (EWP) and Emanuel Synagogue (ES) have officially reintegrated after a unanimous vote by EWP members on June 12, transitioning the preschool to a Company Limited by Guarantee with ES as its sole member.

Founded by Emanuel Synagogue and operating on its campus for decades, EWP will retain its staff, daily operations, and educational approach. The move formalises a long-shared mission and strengthens support for families across Sydney’s Jewish community.

“The long-intertwined relationship between Emanuel Synagogue and Emanuel Woollahra Preschool has received the official blessing of both organisations to become one entity,” said EWP Chairman Sam Weiss. “But the real mitzvah is that the entire community can look forward to many happy years of children learning and playing with each other at Emanuel Synagogue.”

Joint programs like the Purim Carnival and Little People of the Books will continue under the unified structure, with new initiatives planned to deepen engagement.

Grant McCorquodale, President of the Board of Emanuel Synagogue, added: “To define Emanuel is to define community – deep, inclusive connection… Our Preschool is such a warm and heartfelt essential component of our engaged community life.”
