Elderly Israeli woman killed in New Zealand road incident
An Israeli woman in her 70s has died following a road incident in New Zealand’s South Island.

Initial reports from Israeli media indicated that the woman was struck by a vehicle in the town of Te Anau. Other reports placed the incident near Winton, also in the Southland region. Authorities in New Zealand have not yet publicly clarified the precise location.
The woman, described as an American-Israeli resident of Jerusalem, had been visiting New Zealand with her husband for a family event.
Israel’s volunteer emergency response organisation ZAKA confirmed that its International Unit is in contact with the family and is coordinating with local authorities and Israeli diplomatic officials to facilitate the return of the body to Israel for burial.
New Zealand authorities are understood to be investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. No further details have been released.
This is a developing story.
