“Bound By History – For We Are One”
The “Bound By History” event scheduled for December 2 was initiated as a response to the deeply disturbing rise in hostility towards Israel, the Jewish community in Australia and those who advocate for shared humanity since 7 October 2023.
These hostilities have resulted in acts of antisemitism not seen for generations—including vandalism, arson and targeted intimidation causing fear, division and misinformation strain our social fabric.
At this event, the audience will engage in discussion to develop a unified plan of action to achieve stability in Australia.
Recently returning from Israel, Dalia Ayalon Sinclair, Past President of NCJWA NSW and convenor of ”Celebrating Israel” events for the last two decades, realised the urgency to engage and assist in restructuring a cohesive and united Australia with shared values and mutual respect to enable all Australians to move forward in unity – “For We Are One.”
National Council of Jewish Women of Australia has widely contributed to Australia since its founding in 1923. For decades and during WWII, the dedicated volunteers were involved in social welfare and relief work, refugees and migrant support as well as providing essential supplies to the Australian Soldiers. To date, NCJWA NSW provides programs which reach across Australia’s diverse communities.
Australia’s strength has always emerged from the stories we share, the challenges we have overcome, and the diverse communities that give shape to the nation we call home.
From First Nations heritage to waves of migrants from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and beyond, our identity is rooted in collective memories and intertwined histories.
Whilst conflicts between nations around the world are rising, resulting in the loss of innocent lives on both sides of the conflict, it is natural to express sympathy. However, we must stand firmly against targeted hate to annihilate and attack other communities.
”Bound By History” event participants aim to affirm our shared dignified values, stand firmly against racism and inspire a cohesive, resilient and compassionate society where
our stories overlap, our future is interlinked, and our humanity is shared – ”For we are one”.
