An Israeli Air Force jet has accidentally dropped a bomb near the Gaza border community of Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak on Tuesday evening due to a technical malfunction during an airstrike in the Strip.

The bomb exploded on impact, creating a large crater in an open field. No injuries were reported, though residents heard a loud blast. The Israel Defense Forces said the incident is under investigation. Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak stated it is in ongoing contact with the military and expects a thorough inquiry.

A similar mishap occurred in May 2024, when a half-ton bomb was mistakenly dropped near Moshav Yated but did not detonate.
