Being proactive in tackling sexual assault and domestic violence is the focus of this year’s Status of Women Program run by National Council of Jewish Women (NCJWA) NSW.

Tammy Rosman, Specialist domestic violence and Child and Family Counsellor, addressed  Mum for Mum volunteers at Council House.

“Sadly, it is a fact of life that no one demographic is immune to domestic violence, and the volunteers need to be well equipped as to how to support our mothers when these issues arise.” Said Nadine Alhadeff,  Mum for Mum Program Manager.

Dr Yoke Berry, Chair of the Status of Women program at NCJWA NSW, announced that Council will screen documentary Brave Miss World in April.

“This is an award–winning movie of how Israeli beauty queen Linor Abargil documented her journey from rape victim to world-wide activist.” said Berry.

Funds raised from the event will be shared between Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia and the Haifa Rape Crisis Centre, one the charities that NCJWA helps to support.

Brave Miss World will screen on Thursday 30 April 2015 at 10.30am and 7pm, Council House, Woollahra and will be preceded with an address by Karen Willis, Executive Officer of Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia.

Tickets are $20, available at www.trybooking.com/GYZD
