Unfortunately, the critique here is rather defanged by its rejection of real understanding of what social justice and related ideologies actually entail, in favor of one-dimensional, easily rejected strawmen. There are real, cutting criticisms of current social justice movements to be had that are based in Jewish values (many of which appear in truncated, alarmist forms in this very article), such as the failure to shake off the centrality of the individual in solving systemic problems and the enabling of bad-faith actors through the privileging of correct rhetoric over correct action. This article also attempts to sneak a condemnation of BLM and some "what is a woman" transphobic rhetoric by in the guise of anti-antisemitism, which is frankly disgusting. For those already ready to condemn "social justice warriors," this article offers no new insight beyond reinforcement of reactionary nonsense that is actively hostile to any moral introspection; those already identifying with any of the groups this condemns will see the tired, well-trodden strawmen and dismiss the rest out of hand—as perhaps they should.

Such an excellent article, Melanie Phillips, bringing as it does to the fore the very real sense and healthy development afforded mankind when following the values and requirements of the Days of Atonement.

What we have instead is polarisation and hatred bred among all kinds of people in the names of their particular causes, and their destructive use of history against their fellowman in the name of groups of humanity split into white, black/coloured, right and left ideologies, et al, the mistakes of others in different eras demanding different actions visited upon the innocent.
