]]> By: Liat Nagar https://www.jwire.com.au/wertheim-responds-to-adelaide-article/#comment-85425 Mon, 02 Jun 2014 04:59:27 +0000 http://www.jwire.com.au/?p=42772#comment-85425 I saw Goers’ article in the Sunday Adelaide Advertiser and sent a letter to the paper in regard to it, pointing out the obvious bias and the wealth of information left out in regard to Israel’s contemporary history in the area – of course, as soon as you leave out particular facts the information is immediately distorted; also commenting on how ridiculously emotive the writing was, theatrical to an extreme. The Advertiser didn’t print my letter the following week, however did print another, which in its criticism was more general rather than Israel/Jewish orientated.
I forwarded my comments to Goers himself and said that it was journalists such as himself that were responsible for the increasing anti-Semitism internationally, which is always fuelled by Israel/Palestinian events and inflammatory reporting of them. As usual, the retort is that the person/s concerned have spoken to Israelis before forming their judgement, and, as we know, those Israelis belong to Peace Now or various other organisations overly sympathetic to the Palestinian situation, as well as the Israeli revisionist-historians being lauded on the international stage. I made the comment to him that people most commonly go to seek information from those who will tell them what they already think.
It doesn’t matter what facts we come up with, people like Goers are simply going to ignore them and continue Israel bashing. This kind of thing usually comes from ignorance or hatred.
