Chabad of Melbourne CBD have hosted their annual Sukkos in the City Festival in the City Square.
Taking part in the celebration was the immediate Past Premier of Victoria, Ted Baillieu who addressed the event.
Also attending were Liberal MP Joshua Frydenberg, the federal member for Kooyong, David Southwick MP – Member for Caulfield and Nina Bassat AM – President of the JCCV – (Jewish Community Council of Victoria) which represents almost sixty major Jewish Organisations in
Melbourne and the state of Victoria.
The dignitaries praised Rabbi Chaim Herzog for the continuous good work that he does on behalf of Chabad in Melbourne’s City Center, this is his 16th year there.
Rabbi Herzog is the shliach of Chabad of Melbourne CBD and organised the event.
That’s nice. It would be good on these more public occasions if there were information boards erected informing people of the story behind the celebration, as most people are quite ignorant of Jewish history and belief, and education can ameliorate intolerance and create better understanding. Perhaps that information was provided?
