More than 60 pro-Palestinian supporters demonstrated noisily outside the Israeli Embassy in Wellington this morning…while next to them holding the Israeli flag silently stood 15 supporters of Israel.

Demonstrators support Israel in Wellington

President of the Wellington Jewish Council David Zwartz told J-Wire: “We stood by without uttering any counter-claims. We were the silent witnesses of those showing open hatred for Israel.”

Ambassador Shemi Tzur also spoke to J-Wire. He told us that the demonstrators posed no threat to Israel’s recently reopened embassy.

Zwartz had emailed his mailing list that he was going to stage a counter-demonstration and invited anyone who wished to join him to do so.

  1. Thanks for another fantastic post. Where else could anyone get that type of information in such an ideal way of writing? I have a presentation next week, and I’m on the look for such info.

Re the protest against the opening of an Israeli Embassy in New Zealand… the heading could well have been ‘ONLY 60 people attended a protest against the Embassy.’ I have no doubt there are many people who support the opening of an Israeli Embassy, and welcome positive Israeli-New Zealand ties.
