Let's try and recompose the rationale in Issy's comprehensive presentation.
I say comprehensive because it tries to encompass all views as if they would all merge toward a logical conclusion.
They do not and that incompatibility is supported by Issy's own arguments.
If, as said, the future American ( and for that matter any ) diaspora ledareship is bound to differ in its composition snd resepctive philosophical inclinations, then WHY should Israel modify her own strategies, indeed the very reason d'ettre !!! Shoiuld Israel adapt her very own existence, structure and substance in order to please a Diaspora envisaged by Issy as departing from the NECESSARY incontrovertible dedication to the perpetuation of a Jewish entity consistent ONLY with the IMMUTABLE Judaic principles. Here we must be honest about the possible - actually IMPOSSIBLE - compatibility between a diminished Jewish quality in the Diaspora ( see the primordially assimilated and even out-married Diaspora "Jewish" leadership !!!).
Issy makes sense only in as far as pointing out how NONSENSICAL the erguments in respect to Isarel are likely to emmerge from the distant Diaspora.
Distant in seemingly irreversible willingness to accommodate the vital LOCAL interests of a tried Israel. Will the gap widen as inevitable cultural tectonic masses depart from what we thought to be a homogenous collective neshama, Providentially unalaterable??!! Once we have arrived at that notion of INTER-anything, marriage or identity acculatuarlisation, we must conclude that Israel must relly on its own Jewishness, sadly so distinct from what this bloody Diaspora is seemingly inevitably concocting.

Gill, once again, I must agree with you and I know that you'd rather be wrong...Same here.

Isi,

I can't believe what I'm reading. You say about Kerry: "he represents Israel’s ally." I've got news for you, under the Obama administration the USA is no longer an ally. Kerry's so called hints about boycotts, sanctions etc. should Israel not do as it's told, are clear instructions and green lights to the Europeans on what action they should take once he gives them the nod. Same with his constant rants about the next Intifada. Abbas is not a fool and he too knows that he has been given a green light by a US Secretary of State on the next major terror campaign, should he get the "go" from Kerry.

On Lieberman's U Turn you say: "If Netanyahu orchestrated this as “good cop bad cop” performance, it seriously backfired. On the other hand, if the Foreign Minister is running his own mini government, that is totally unacceptable." Hate to tell you but if Netanyahu did orchestrate this, then that is ALSO totally unacceptable from an Israeli Prime Minister. Has this man taken leave of his senses?

You say:"Our government must provide clarity of vision" give me a break.
How can there be clarity of vision when Netanyahu appoints for political reasons (another "serious backfire") as his chief negotiator Tzipi Livni, a totally leftist individual who appears to have no concept that capitulation after capitulation only brings more outrageous demands? Talking about clarity of vision, Netanyahu can start by firing this woman who incidentally disgraced herself with her screeching at him in the Knesset during the recent visit by a true friend of Israel, the Canadian Prime Minister.

What is urgently needed is a change in the electoral laws whereby ex-pat Israelis can vote in elections while overseas as allowed by all western democracies. No doubt this would be vigorously opposed by over half the Knesset who are either left wing or Arab "Israelis" who realise that these votes would not go to them.

Israel appears to be a political basket case, run by a Government with absolutely no clarity of vision, a Government which capitulates on virtually every issue, where the media runs amok and where ministers, rather than exercise restraint, shoot their mouth off on the first thought that comes into their head, even if this is opposite to the view of the Government they represent.

Israel cannot go on this way if it intends to survive and something serious has to be done and soon. Israel under Netanyahu appears to be like a ship without a rudder adrift on the high seas.
