Paul

All those who believed Arafat have now been shown what a fraud and a con man he was -and his legacy is being carried on today by his successors.

Incredibly they are still being treated with deference and kid gloves and accorded standing ovations.

What can one do but continue to expose their incompetence and foolishness and their flawed reliance on a two-state solution that will never eventuate.

How many signals do they need to receive that the two-state solution is dead and buried?

The Jordan/Egypt/Israel deal made far more sense when I first proposed it 35 years ago. It too is rapidly sinking in the sunset.

But there is nothing else - if another war is to be averted.

Certainly Egypt and Gaza now represent a separate challenge that really must go into the too hard basket at the moment.

There is still a small window of opportunity with Jordan that is also rapidly closing.

When I think back to the hundreds of thousands of Jewish and Arab lives that would have been so different if this proposal had been taken up - I can only shake my head in disbelief.

A lot of people in high places should hang their heads in shame.

Just two comments on a good article by David Singer.

1. He errs in commenting that the Trojan Horse fooled everyone. A great number of people noted that Arafat was a liar and they were ignored or regarded as fools or right-wing extremists. Rabin should have spat in Arafat\'s face on the White House lawn when the arch terrorist described the signing of the agreement as "the peace of the brave" Rabin should have kicked Arafat back to Tunis after the Cape Town speech when Arafat revealed that the "peace" deal was simply a stage in the eventual destruction of Israel. And we all heard of the salami technique, where the Arabs got bits of Israel slice by slice.

2. The proposal for a Jordan/Egypt/Israel deal or for UN unvolvement is settling the whole dispute is the manifestation of a fixation on a delusion. Jordan is teetering on the edge and could well fall to the MB franchise, Hamas. Egypt is ruled by the MB and stability is maintained by the still provileged military, but may fal despite USA bribes. The UN is a hostile entity dominated by cynics and rogues where Israel has no friend apart from Canada ans the Czech republic Israel must just impose its own solution and accelerate the implosion of the Palestinian Arab society..
