Gidon, you ask what the benefit to Israel is. Well as all the print media journalists are on holiday here the only items printed were from the Washington Post and an interview with McCully done by AFP. Radio was different with full rolling coverage that included an interview item from me. TV coverage was quite good too.
The real benefit is to put Israel in the for front of the minds of people. They ask what have we done that would make Bibi withdraw his Ambassador.
Ambassadors don’t get withdraw from here. McCully is on the way out and an election must be held by the end of November 2017.
So the Jewish community and the highly organized Christian friends of Israel groups and organizations like mine can make Support for Israel an issue in foreign policy debates. McCully Has His Saudi Sheep deal gone wrong and now this on his plate. He is in for a fight at the next cabinet meeting.
Reports today indicate that he may have made decisions on this issue without reference to the Prime Minister or cabinet.

If there were an exchange of territories in the process of a peace settlement presumably citizens of Israel would find themselves outside of Israel. That would not be right. It would seem easier to evacuate the settlements. Although the UN has supported thugs and made unjust resolutions against Israel I think the resolution against the settlements was justified.
