There was an impressive demo at NZ’s Parliament today by around 100 Friends of Israel and others who travelled several hundreds of miles to make their protest at NZ’s complicity in sponsoring the infamous UNSC 2334 and I suspect that the NZPost is working over time with the volumes of letters protesting the actions of Foreign Minister, Murray McCully and calling on the new PM to sack him. However, the damage is done but the fallout back home is dire.

Alan Dershowitz was right to point out that NZ is itself a colonised settler nation with a tragic record of its relations with Maori which are taking generations to restore with reparations and apologies. Not a viable comparison but he made the point and it stung.

I was always proud that NZ was one of the nations to vote ” Yes” in 1947. Now I am just ashamed and for once, the Aussies have got it over us by stating today that they have not wavered in their support for the State of Israel and an even handed stance on Final Settlement negotiations.

The bad news is a long article in the NZ Herald from B’Tselem congratulating NZ.I hope some Kiwi Israelis will take them to task.
