J-Wire spoke to school principal Rabbi Dr Noateh Glogauer….

Our school inherited facilities which were outdated  which lacked the basic needs to develop advanced scientific skills. Operated by both the Dover Heights school and TAFE, the science labs were 20-30 years old.

We had a five year plan determining how we wanted KTC to develop. We felt that science facilities were lacking in the broader community and that it would a niche that KTC could cover,

The new lab has been financed through a grant from the Federal Government and funding from private donors, such as the Vidor family.

Rabbi Glogauer added: “In 2008, Israel’s president Shimon Peres commented in the advancement of science and technology in Israel and the importance to establish its mark in the world. I believe KTC is in a very similar light. We are a minority but our opportunities to be able to develop that area will definitely pay benefits for our comment as wells Australia globally.”

Two years ago we expanded out mathematics program. We believe definitely that we are on  the right track. Now our science department can create a leadership model. This will change our standing in the educational community in NSW.”

The lab has been named in honour of Lotte Vidor’s parents Kasriel and Mila Rosen. Erwin Vidor fought back tears at a very emotional moment when discussed Kasriel and Mila Rosen . He said: “They were the epitome of deeply religious, proud, modern Jews. Their past contribution continued now by Lotte and our family is truly befitting  of their life-long feeling and commitment towards Jewish education. Their total commitment to their family and the way they lived together for 65 years left a legacy to three generations to show them how they should live and what they should believe in. They will never be forgotten”

Speaking at the official opening were Waverley mayor Sally Betts, and Local State MP for Vaucluse Gabrielle Upton.
