The aim of the day was for students to learn more about the refugee experience to assist those students who may volunteer with organisations which support refugee communities

The students were shown the powerful SBS documentary ‘Go Back to Where You Came From,’ and a received a presentation from Matti Borowski, who worked as a lawyer with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre before joining the informal education team at Mount Scopus.

The day concluded with a Q&A between Lisa Buchner from Stand Up and Felimon, a refugee from the Nuba Mountains in Sudan, who shared his story.

A spokesperson for Mt Scopus told J-Wire: “The day provided much food for thought for the students and will hopefully inspire them to make a difference to the lives of others.”
