The Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council and The New Israel Fund have both condemned the religious bigotry recently expressed by Reclaim Australia.

Jeremy Jones of AIJAC said: “The Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) strongly supports Australian multiculturalism. All who come to Australia should feel welcome, and should feel completely comfortable that they have the right to preserve and practise their own cultures, while all who live here also have responsibilities to adhere to Australia’s egalitarian, democratic values and to Australian law.
In light of reported support for the Reclaim Australia rallies by a group identifying itself as an Australian Jewish communal lobby, AIJAC wishes to make it clear that we condemn the religious bigotry on display at the rallies and call for open, frank discussions of matters of public concern in an informed, rational and civil manner.”

A spokesman for the New Israel Fund added: “The New Israel Fund (NIF) Australia Foundation condemns the hatred and bigotry aimed exclusively at Muslims which was displayed at the recent Reclaim Australia rallies.

The rallies featured hate speech based on outrageous allegations against fellow Australians. This campaign to victimise and marginalise ordinary Australians simply because of their Islamic faith is reminiscent of the antisemitism faced by Jews over the centuries.

Hatred and intolerance are twin evils which must be publicly denounced as utterly unacceptable. We call on all political and community leaders to condemn the philosophy and actions of this movement.

The importance of promoting a shared society featuring pluralism and tolerance has long been part of NIF’s goals. As Jews, we recognise the importance of standing up and speaking out against bigotry and hate speech as well as working to protect an inclusive and cohesive Australian society.”

Hey, good work guys. The parallels between islamophobia and antisemetism are quite frightening. It only takes a little historical research to see how fascist movements in the 1930s campaigned against Kosher food (even using the “animal rights” argument) and Halakha, accused jewish folk of oppressing their women, accused jewish folk of supporting terrorism in the british mandate and so on. To see these arguments deployed almost verbatim from the Nazi (And I use that word in a precise manner. I refer specifically to the NSDAP) playbook should send shivers down the spine of anyone who cares for this country.

To quote the manic street preachers “If you tolerate this, then your children will be next”.

Thanks for standing up guys, its really appreciated.

I can only agree with the 6 previous writers and their views in relation to the nature and danger of Islam. I have done a lot of research into the history of the Middle East and North Africa in relation to the spread of Christianity and the reasons for it’s decline and into the Koran and Islamic writings from the 1st century AD up to present and it is very clear to me that Islam is openly hostile and violent towards all especially to Jews and Christians. I know of no other religious writings that specifically calls for the enslavement, dimmitude persecutions and death’s of Jews and Christians (unless it is satanism and witchcraft)

As Jews and Christians we should be clear on this topic and stand together as one which is the essence of what our Bibles declare.

Our nation is built on the Judeo/Christian foundations. ONLY Judeo/Christian countries have brought real freedom and benefit to the world.
ALL OTHER CREEDS AND IDEOLOGIES HAVE BROUGHT MISERY TO THEIR PEOPLE.
    History declares it

Political correctness is strangling people from expressing thoughts that might not be convenient, but are needed to be said. Was Sir Winston Churchill politically incorrect to speak disparagingly of the threat of Adolf Hitler and the NAZI’s? Was he wrong to warn of the dangers they threatened? Did the “politically Correct ” heed the warning? AND 40,000,000 MEN WOMEN AND CHILDREN WERE MURDERED IN THE WAR THAT FOLLOWED BECAUSE THEY REFUSED TO LISTEN.
Sir Winston Churchill said,”Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step, and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the
strong arms of science, the science against which it (Islam) has vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.”

It is imperative that we do all we can to protect our faith, families and freedoms from the dangers that seek to enslave.

Like Jeremy Jones, I would also strongly support Muliculturalism, but it has had 25 years in Austrlia to show its manifest failings. One, generic. homogenous nation, where all people unite under the Aussie flag. Thats what we were promised 25 years ago. It obviously has not worked, look around you.

AIJAC would be better off remaining silent on some issues rather then pushing a politically correct but false agenda.

Is there no concern about the opponents of the Reclaim Australia rally, hateful members of the Socialist Alternative or similar anti-Zionist groups, who oppose the existence of Israel, one of whom was burning the Australian flag at the rally?
It seems that the aim here is to smear the proponents of Reclaim Australia ignoring the disreputable elements who opposed them who are really the culprits. I am unsurprised by your equally outrageous comments above. Tolerance can only ever be granted to those who do not have an ideology that is reasonably likely in all the circumstances, to lead to social problems in future if not now. I am outraged that the Jewish community has done NOTHING to address the the horrific example of anti semitism on display a couple of years ago when a Muslim child held up a poster saying “Jews didn’t learn the first time..they need more (image of swastika)”
She was calling for a re-run of the holocaust and you see no problem? Not only is that sad…I think it borders on evil.

  6. Eric Belcher says:

While I strongly support Israel and the Jewish people and this article won’t change that, I can’t let this article go by without comment. I understand the parrallels between Jewish persecution and the so called ‘religious bigotry; being spoken about. However, defending multiculturalism is not the answer. Culture is what we do ‘here’. Defend multi-race and I don’t have a problem. Multiculturalism and multi-race are not the same thing. (Although for the Jews I can understand that they almost mean the same thing).

Islam is not a race. It is an evil idology that is in direct conflict with the Jewish and Christian faiths. They way Islam does things based on their sacred texts and the way Jews and Christians do things based on their sacred texts are directly opposite. They are different GODS for crying out loud.

Islam is supposedly divinely inspired, so it can’t be reformed without invalidating the initial revelation. It must be rejected outright!

Being against an evil set of ideas, especially when the stated aim of those ideas is to convert of kill you is not a bad thing. The Jewish people have nothing to fear in rejecting Islam. In Israel itself, you live with this serpent around your neck and it constantly bites you. I quite frankly don’t get it. We all have rights to our ideas. We don’t have the right to force others to conform to our ideas and this is the very nature of Islam!

    • Selwyn Schulz says:

Exactly right. Islam is a serpent in God’s clothing

    • mark hayman says:

Whether or not Islam ideology is supremacist or breeds violence to non-Muslims isnt really relevant – but where ever the Muslims are growing numerically such as in France Jews are being persecuted and driven out – that is the non ideological reality, that is what is happening on the ground. Ignoring reality because it doesnt conform to your multiculti ideal is plain stupid.
