Former Coogee Synagogue and Mount Sinai College board member Harry Schnapp has reflected on his involvement in the Six-Day War at the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies plenum.

An immigrant to Israel from Bucharest, Schnapp served as an artillery gunner during the 1967 war, and answered questions during a Q and A session with Board of Deputies CEO Vic Alhadeff.

Schnapp was a teenager at the time and he spoke movingly about his feelings when he heard that the Western Wall had been captured by Israeli forces. He was followed by Dr Ron Weiser, who delivered a political overview. The plenum focused on the 50th anniversary of the Six-Day War.

This J-wire article brought me back to the days when I lived on the same street with Harry Shnapp, in Kiriat Yam, Israel. We also studied at the same school in the 9th and 10th grade…
I was nice to read his comment. Well, we grew a bit older…
