One can be a secular Jew or ‘pluralist’ and fully aware of the Holocaust, even obsessed by the murder of six millions Jews in order to exterminate a whole race, can think about it and have it close for much of the time. Never forget it. Please know this.

As to where was G-d during the Holocaust. Probably weeping at the terrible abuse of power perpetrated by human beings, and remembering that He had granted them the free will to do so. The responsibility for what happened did not rest with G-d.
