It’s a great shame, as when I was younger (many years ago) great thinking and intellectual vigour came from left-leaning people, in or out of politics. Intellectual curiosity, debate and respect for the mind was a prominent feature of discourse (I don’t mean the extremists).

The scenario now is so very different. Left, Right – I’m not sure where the middle is! – aligned to tunnel-vision and incapable, it seems, of more inspirational thought. As for ‘truth’, hard at all times to reach, that fell by the wayside a long time ago.
