Melbourne-Tel Aviv-Tel Aviv El Al flights on the cards
Subject to Saudi approval to fly across its country, 15-hour direct flights between Melbourne and Tel Aviv are set to be announced by El Al.

The carrier’s CEO Dina Ben-Tal Ganancia has told a tourism conference in Tel Aviv that the previously planned direct route was disrupted in 2019 with the advent of COVID.
She made no mention of when the route will open.
Zionism Victoria president Yossi Goldfarb told J-Wire: “Direct flights of just 15 hours between Melbourne and Tel Aviv would be a real game changer.
The opportunities for enhancing business ties between the two countries would be incredible, while the Jewish State would become infinitely more accessible for members of our community and for travellers and holidaymakers from the wider community.
Imagine being able to visit your children or grandchildren there in a matter of hours rather than days. If the proposal does come to fruition, I have no doubt that communal enthusiasm for the flights – like El Al’s planes – will really take off.”

“Imagine being able to visit your children or grandchildren there in a matter of hours rather than days” Never has been days! Qantas used to have a direct connection in Bangkok with El Al, and in fact was also a QF code shared flight.
I’m in the insdustry and this was supposed to happen pre-Olympics in Sydney except that John Howard wouldn’t let El-Al put there on security on the ground. This is going to be a MASSIVE game changer. Cheaper fares and no need to transit anywhere, espceially 6 – 0 hrs in Bangkok…horrible 🙁
