The award was presented to Ms Mauboy in Melbourne by ADC Chairman Dr Dvir Abramovich.

Dr Dvir Abramovich said: “Jessica Mauboy is more than just a performer. A leading light in promoting equality and diversity, she is an outspoken advocate for social change and an inspiring role model for young people.

This award pays tribute to her deeply principled leadership in using her public stature, as well as her courage and conviction, to speak out against intolerance and to empower many to stand up to racism.

She is a blessing to our community, and through her deep commitment to respect, understanding, inclusivity and to celebrating all differences, Ms Mauboy has built awareness about the problem of bullying and prejudice.

In a  world sorely in need of genuine champions, Jessica Mauboy has answered the call by being a strong voice and a moral centre to remind us of what being an Australian is all about. The ADC could not be prouder in partnering up with Ms Mauboy to create a more inclusive society and to lift our nation to even greater heights.”

On receiving the honour, Jessica Mauboy said: ” This is the highest honour I could get from my heart.I believe to treat others the way you like to be treated…with human kindness, with love…not to be hard or judgemental but look at a person and really support each other. This is the highest award I have ever received.”
