The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation unveiled yesterday the official logo for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest that will be held in Tel Aviv in May.

The logo is made up of three triangles which, when united, shine together to create a golden star, and with the slogan “Dare to Dream.”

Explaining the concept behind the logo, the Israeli Broadcaster said that “the triangle, one of the world’s oldest shapes, is a cornerstone symbol found universally in art, music, cosmology, and nature, representing connection and creativity. As the triangles join and combine, they become a new single entity reflecting the infinite stellar sky, as the stars of the future come together in Tel Aviv for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.”

The logo, created by Awesome Tel Aviv and Studio Adam Feinberg, two Israeli branding agencies, was inspired by Florian Wieder’s stage design, whose concept uses triangular shapes and structures. The slogan “Dare to Dream” symbolizes inclusion, diversity and unity, which “resonate with the core values of the Eurovision Song Contest.”

Jon Ola Sand, the European Broadcasting Union’s Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, said that “We are delighted with the logo accompanying KAN’s slogan for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest – Dare to Dream – which perfectly complements the fantastic angular stage design created by Florian Wieder. We hope the creative theme for this year’s competition inspires the 42 contestants coming together in Tel Aviv in May, as they dream of becoming the stars of the future”

Eurovision 2019 will take place in Israel following Israel’s victory with Netta Barzilay’s hit song Toy in Lisbon last year. The victorious country gets to host the following year’s competition.

The last time Israel hosted the competition was in Jerusalem in 1999.

May 2019 is a big month with Eurovision and an Australia Commonwealth election. If the dates clash I will be watching Eurovison on SBS in Australia. Some of the dance routines are hilariously kitch.
