What a weak, pathetic decision by the Australian government to abstain from voting in the UN on these particular resolutions. What hollow, empty vessels they are, led by a man who appears less able to lead as each week goes by. Please, in future, spare us the sight and sound of Julie Bishop’s boring rhetoric on the support of Israel (always so correctly countered with side reference to the Palestinians), delivered in her determinedly authoritative tones, along with pseudo-steely stare, within a carefully composed elegance. All show. That’s the Libs. No backbone to be seen anywhere.

At least Michael Danby speaks out, and keeps speaking out, Leon Poddebsky. That’s one voice ringing out in the darkness prevailing. Where is Josh Frydenberg’s voice? – not a squeak, as it’s as fully immersed in the Liberal Party machinery as Turnbull’s is. The Labor Party falls prey to political compromise and poor decision-making too. However, they are made up of individuals, many of whom dare to be different. And that’s where some hope lies.

Australia should have voted for the resolution but abstaining is better that how the Yankees voted.

Does Mr Danby think that the cowardice, duplicity and poor judgement of the Liberal-NP coalition excuse the malevolence and mendacity and poor judgement of the Labor Party?
Does any Jew believe that either party will go out on a limb to defend the truth about Israel’s legitimate rights?
