United Torah Judaism lawmakers were enraged to learn on Wednesday that Israel’s new government plans to set up a special committee to review the longstanding religious-secular status quo in Israel.

The panel, set to be formed under the aegis of the Religious Services Ministry, is expected to look into controversial matters such as conversion, kashrut, commerce on the weekends and public transportation on Shabbat.

“It turns out that the prime minister doesn’t only break his campaign promises, but also breaks his word in office,” said  UTJ lawmaker Uri Maklev, referring to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s statement that the government was unlikely to revisit the issue of the status quo.

UTJ leader Moshe Gafni said in response to the development that “there will be a war for every ‘T’ crossed and ‘I ‘dotted and, God willing, we will topple this evil government.”

It is scandalous that over 600,000 ex Russian Israeli citizens can still be deprived of Jewish conversion by the reactionary octogenarian clique ruling “religion” in Israel.

If it is good enough for the ex Russians to work, pay taxes , fight in the IDF, and die —whilst the vast majority of Haredim avoid the army duty, do not pay taxes and indeed survive on the pension from a State they deride and do not recognize, the lets change the rules of Haredim power.

The most scandalous aspect of all is after such an Israeli dies on the battle field to keep the Haredim safe, the same Haredim DENY that fallen soldier the right to be buried in Jewish cemetery.
    Unforgivable!

Lets call the reality as it is.

The monopoly of the Haredim must be overthrown in Israel.

There are over 600,000 ex Russian/Soviet people in Israel who are itching to be officially seen as Jews–only to be refused by the senile hierarchy of Haredim.

The now citizens of Israel pay taxes, work and fight in the IDF and die for Israelis, including the Haredim.

yet the Haredim as a whole–1/ refuse to serve in the IDF,
2/ allow others to die to keep them safe
3/REFUSE even to allow the fallen ex Russian Israelis to be buried in Jewish cemeteries!

And this is not to even include the problem with women praying at the Kotel.

    What an absolute disgrace.

( at this point it is important to note that Lubavitchers are seen much more within the IDF).

So let there be an entire overhaul of the religious control and power in Israel.
